My Mini Schnauzer has really bad separation anxiety. What more can I do?

I have a 7 month old Mini Schnauzer. He's always had really bad separation anxiety since day one and he's only got slightly better recently. I know I'm to blame as when we first got him, I was at home studying a lot and we never really left him for more than 2 hours max. In those 2 hours, he would howl loudly throughout the entire time (we record him every time we leave) and for that reason, I would try my best not to leave him at all (which obviously hasn't helped)! Now we're at a point where I need to be able to leave him. I have a 4 hour a day job (which I got on purpose so I wouldn't have to leave him for too long). This is what we have tried in order to help his anxiety: aromatherapy diffuser, TV/music, Kong's, putting our coats on/picking up keys then sitting down or taking them off/putting them down again etc (we did this over a few days but didn't seem to help), we've tried him in his crate/out of his crate, we don't make a fuss when we leave or return, we've even watched him on skype while we sit in the car and make distracting noises every time he's about to howl. This is our current routine which seems so minimise his howling: I take him for a run in the fields to wear him out a bit, then get ready for work before siting in the living room, I then exchange his toys for some toys he hasn't played with for a while, put some classical music on, sit with him for a while longer (without fussing with him) then quietly leave. Most of the time he howls so loudly that he loses his voice! I don't know what else I can do, this is ruining my life!!!!

I've never read this poem, but I think I can help you figure out this one. This is a technique my AP English teacher taught me. When you read a poem, it's usual telling a story that is a metaphor for something. Say for instance, the poem "The Road Less Traveled" by Robert Frost. Obviously, it is about a man/woman standing at a crossroads wondering which road to take. But on a deeper level, it is about choices and how as humans we are bound to be in a situation where we may have to make tough decisions. It's a simple formula. Listen, the honest truth is it doesn't matter how well you write now. All you need to do is keep reading and writing, then maybe when you're thirty five and actually have some life experience to draw from you can ask for the quality of writing. Here's the tip I found has actually improved my writing the most: hide it. Hide it somewhere you'll find it in six months or a year. Don't search it out. Don't think about where you might have put it. After all that time has passed, after having read another author, after having written other things, then you can read it as if it weren't your own, and hopefully you'll have a better understanding of what is wrong with that. (BTW a single kit in a litter isn't something to be proud of for a cat)

I agree with all the answerers. Even though you don't show the dog it will ruin his coat and take away his protection. If you feel he is overheating make sure you have an appropriate spot of shade at all hours to protect him from the sun, also make sure its not closed in so if its windy he can have a breeze. If he enjoys water I would buy a small plastic kiddie pool and fill it, he can climb in if he gets really hot and relax.

I could see Frances being used for a boy, since it's only a very minor difference in spelling that distinguishes the male version from the female version. Maybe Alonza, and definitely Pleasant - I always though Pleasant was a male name anyway. But certainly none of the others!

How heavy a rider can a horse carry?

What is a great foundation?

So I typically wear almays tlc foundation but lately I don't like it as I used to. And it's almost out so it might be nice to switch it up! But my issue is... I think I have large pores... I don't know who told you you couldn't wrap edges with formica, but you can. In fact you're supposed to finish a laminate job with the edges in the same material as the top. They sell pre-made edges already that you just apply with an iron or you can rip and glue your own formica strips to the edges then simply trim the excess with a router or zip saw for a nice smooth edge.

Recently, I have been faced with a crucial decision, where should I attend college? I am a senior in a prep school and I have been accepted in a variety of schools. When I a was young, through several tests, I was determined to have a genius IQ. I have received stellar grades throughout school and have received great test scores and all that jazz. My father wants me to attend his alma mater, Brown University,which I have been accepted to, so that I may pursue a degree in economics at the business school. Although Brown is a fantastic school, I do not wish to attend Brown, nor do I want to pursue any degree related to business. I have always been passionate about science and want to pursue a degree in engineering, specifically mechanical engineering. After touring the school, I fell in love with Umass Amherst. I felt that at Brown the students are all obsessed with money and the name of their school. At Umass, I observed that the students are more genuine and down to earth, compared the aggregation of trust fund babies who attend Brown. My father is furious that I want to decline my attendance to Brown and attend my safety school Umass, despite my desires. He claims that instead of becoming successful, I would become a partying zoo animal at Umass. I realize that Umass is a lower tier school compared to Brown but I desire to do what makes me happy. I realize that I can be successful if I work hard at what I enjoy doing. My father, on the other hand, does not give a damn about my aspirations and claims that I am making a foolish and childish mistake. You've got potential here. I really like your vocabulary, and it flows well. The only critique I could give you is to make the dialogue sound a tad bit more natural. It's very good as it is, but some of it sounds a little too formal for a drunken/high person. I don't know how old they're supposed to be, but I get the impression that the older brother is around 17 and the younger brother is no older than 12; he seems sort of naive. If that was what you were going for, you did a good job.

Should I become a professional musician?

Alright. So im 18 years old and have been playing guitar for 6 years. Before that I played violin which I had been doing since I was 3 years old. Music is my passion and it has been for a long time, it is the reason I get up in the morning. All I ever think about is writing new songs and how I can incorporate interesting themes and ideas into my songs. I have a pretty experienced musical taste ranging in anything from Ravi Shankar to Kid Cudi but my favorite artist is Bob Dylan. I have been having this confidence issue though, mainly because I have never been in a (real) band. This is due to the lack of anything but metal musicians in my town(not to mention the fact that I am extremely introverted person), it just seems that no one has any interest in branching out from chugging and screaming. I bought some Lion Brand 100 percent wool yarn because I love the color and I want to knit a special scarf with it. I'm a new knitter, and I had never used wool or Lion brand yarn before. What should I do with my Akita pup?

I have 2 Akitas. 10 year old Male Akita, with a dominant personality and a 5 year old Female Akita with a very passive personality that was a champion in my country. I adopted the female Akita during her heat. I was told to wait for her to bleed and then separate her from the male. It turns out, that the same day I introduce her to my family, my 10 year old dog mated with her. Currently, I am have 5 pups that I am giving for adoption (I am not a backyard breeder, an I don't care to make money of the pups). I call the representatives of AKC in my country to help me find proper homes for the dogs. They are currently 3 month old, and the people at AKC had to see them before recommending them. When they saw them they went crazy. They almost told me I was stupid to not keep one of them. There are two pups that they told me to please let them show them in the following tournament, because they will surely win. I explained to them that I already have 2 Akitas, and a third dog would be mayhem. They told me that my old dog would not be a problem, because he is REALLY old and Akita develop strong personalities around 2 years old. The dog they want me to keep is a pup that has beautiful coat, that looks like a pajama, but kind of crazy personality (looks very dominant). The other dog is a girl that has a personality in between. The people told me that they would prefer to have two male dogs, one old and one really young. They would not advice me to have two young female dogs, that their fights are the worst. I really do not know what to do! What would you do?

I have a Yorkie that will be 1 year in a few weeks. I have been feeding her Royal Canin since she was about 4 months. She doesn't like it. We have to put a little bit of our Labrador's food in her's for her to eat it. But the problem is that the food we give our Labradors is Science Diet. My parents feed them that. I know that the Science Diet has by-product and I don't want to be feeding my Yorkie that, but she loves that food... I want a food that she will like and that will give her a silky coat. How can I tell my girlfriend I don't like her friends without upsetting her?

People who socialize with substances usually seek out others who do, too whether they are 20, 30, or 70. What you really want to tell your gf is that you don't like her (not the friends) when she's trashed, but it's a lot easier to blame them for her lack of control. If she controls it at home, she can do it elsewhere. People stop that kind of behavior when there is a consequence that is so bad that they re-think their posistion. If they all get arrested it will probably be a pivotal moment. It's her choice - the friends aren't holding her down pouring booze into her. I hope that you have big enough nuggets to tell her the truth, before one of those pesky consequences shows up.

Calling all f.e.a.r players?

ok, so im about to get a new laptop and i am wanna get a FPS horror/survival game for it. the only problem is when i was thinking about getting f.e.a.r i found out that the name of one of the characters is alma. dont tell me who alma is or anything more about the game. just tell me if knowing who alma is will ruin the story for me. i dont like when the story is spoiled.

First paragraph, what corrections should I make?

In high school, I was not involved at all in school. I kept to myself usually focusing on my school and nothing else. It is something that I have grown to regret and believe it had hindered me from having the full high school experience. But once I cam to college I decided that I would not take the same route I did in college. In college, I became heavily involved in several clubs, one that is worth mentioning is called ABS (Association of Black Students). When I attended my first ABS meeting, my thoughts of the group were up in the air. I only attended the meeting simply because I had nothing else to do and wanted to follow the mantra “giving it the old college try”. The first meeting was interesting and memorable. One of the staff members came to speak. I expected a speech praising the group on their efforts and achievements last year. But it was anything but. The professor lambasted the group for their excessive spending on parts and their inability to help out unfortunate outside of campus. She then listed several problems that have plagued the black community, crime, drugs, sexual transmitted diseases and listed statistics that proved her point. The information wasn’t surprising to me, but the fact that a professor would exclaim her grievances to the group without notifying the executive board, and with such vigor was what surprised me.

You went for a quick fix and didn't try to find out what was involved before you started. Painting a bike is a multi day project. You start out with completely dismantling your bike down to the frame and fork. You then sand down to smooth everything out. Painting is a multi step process, you have to apply primer first, several coats of colour, then a clear coat. There is no possible way to do this in a day, the paint has to dry between coats. If you want to ride your bike today, put it back together and ride it. If you want it to look good you have to take the time needed to paint it properly.

Help with painting my nails?

I have started to do my nails more often now and I have noticed that my right index finger always smears in the first few hours of having painted nails. I let the color dry then apply top coat. I make sure that my nails are totally dry before doing anything but still I'll look down at my nails and that one nail will always smear. I know it was totally dry like my other nails but it still smears. Any ideas on what to do to avoid this? Or why it does this?

Have him become more self aware as he wakes up, and have the character look around then describe the setting as he sees it, in a confused fashion, being vague at first and then bring out the details as he absorbs what has just occurred. And also, after finding out his location have him go into a bit of shock, slowly grasp what just happened and if it fits the story have him panic (that's what I would do). Then later have him search around and look for others.

This is not a bad piece of writing. It flows well, the dialogue is fine and it has a readable style. One or two of your sentences seemed too short to me and could easily have been joined to the next sentence e.g. "It was late. Very late." and you finish one sentence with the word right as though you were expecting an answer and it doesn't work here at all. Try something like "I reasoned that if I stayed up and confronted him he would have to tell me so decided to give it a try." Apart from that keep writing it because it does work and it is readable. Good luck with your story.

Teflon coating on George Foreman?

I have a George Foreman Grill with Teflon coating on the top and bottom heat surfaces (black coating), but after cleaning the grill with a bristle cleaner, the coating has flaked off, in relatively small amounts (exposed lines here and there where you can see the underlying metal). Is this a potential health risk, now that some of the grills inner metal has been exposed? Will it still grill things properly? And is there a "teflon-spray" that I can buy to replace the surface, without forking out for another George Foreman? I'm making cufflinks for my friend so I've got plain cufflinks with a lip around the edge so I can press the fimo/modeling clay into the middle and then paint on it and such but the fimo has so go into the oven to set and there's no way I can set them on their own because it's way too thin and would crack or would be too fiddly to handle once baked. I have this friend. She's my best friend. She calls me all sorts of names, mean names. Today sitting in the living room she was talking to my mom, my sister and I we were talking about how the dog gained weight and then my friend said he's not the only one who's gained weight. DOG BREEDERS. What should I do with my Akita pup if I already have two Akitas?

I have 2 Akitas. 10 year old Male Akita, with a dominant personality and a 5 year old Female Akita with a very passive personality that was a champion in my country. I adopted the female Akita during her heat. I was told to wait for her to bleed and then separate her from the male. It turns out, that the same day I introduce her to my family, my 10 year old dog mated with her. The breeder that gave the dog to me miscalculated, an I did not have time to spay her (something I will do next month). Currently, I have 5 pups that I am giving for adoption (I am not a backyard breeder, an I don't care to make money of the pups). I call the representatives of ACG (partners of AKC) in my country to help me find proper homes for the dogs. They are currently 3 month old, and the people at ACG had to see them before recommending them. When they saw them they went crazy. They almost told me I was stupid to not keep one of them. There are two pups that they told me to please let them show them in the following tournament, because they will surely win (the dog technician cannot show them, but he will hook me up with someone that does it). I explained to them that I already have 2 Akitas, and a third dog would be mayhem. They told me that my old dog would not be a problem, because he is REALLY old and Akita develop strong personalities around 2 years old. The dog they want me to keep is a pup that has beautiful coat, that looks like a pajama, but kind of crazy personality (looks very dominant). From what I have read, the child was not removed because the mother breastfed, the child was removed because the mother refused after several attempts to nourish her child properly. The article states that on weekends the mother solely breastfeeds, this in not sufficient nourishment for a child of 15 months. This mother is neglecting her child by solely breastfeeding. What exactly is the problem with authorities stepping in to ensure that baby Alma is properly fed? The mother WAS neglecting her child by not feeding her properly on weekends.

I don't think there is much to criticize about. It's good. Suspense-filled (to me). It's well written. But, the thing that bothers me is if you're going to use the quotations in your story on master, high, Blood Skulls, The Pythons, and lair.

So I just had a blood test done because I've had symptoms such as cold sweats, white coating on tongue with bumps, headache, body aches and pains, nausea, swollen lymph node in neck, easy bruising, UTI....the results came back and they said all they tested for was normal except my mono test which said I've had mono in the past and my blood count was a little elevated meaning I have some sort of infection.... There's this girl that goes to my high school. We're both juniors, however we don't have any classes together. Throughout the year I would occasionally see her while walking in the hall. Nearly every time I saw her she would smile at me and make eye contact. I would smile back, although I really didn't think much of it at first, I just assumed she was being nice. After a while, I started liking her, and decided I wanted to at least get to know her better, and maybe go further. I've talked to her a few times, but it was just small talk, nothing really special. I guess I was kinda dumbfounded that she asked for my number. I didn't know if that meant she didn't want me to have her number, or if that meant she wanted me to ask for it, or what. I ended up not asking for it (which was probably a mistake) and started talking about what classes she had or something stupid like that. I said I'll see you later and she replied yeah. Looking back on that I didn't make eye contact when I said bye and there was a slight tone of disappointment in her voice when she said yeah, although that might have been in my imagination. It's been two days and she hasn't texted me or anything, and I don't really expect her to. If she doesn't text me within the next few days I'm thinking either a: she's politely saying she's not interested, or b: she wanted me to do something first. Assuming she doesn't text by the next time I see her in the hall, what should I do? Should I talk to her? Should I bring up the fact she hasn't contacted me since we last met, or pretend like it's nothing? I'd like to get to know her better, but I'm really not sure if she's interested or I messed up.

There's a lady I connected with through a social networking site, who attended my alma mater. Currently I'm in lousy shape, in terms of what I have to offer, financially, and achievement-wise, at my ripe age of almost 40.. I am unemployed, am living temporarily at my father's place, don't own a car (I did..but had to donate it..long story..and now don't have the funds to buy a used one..) and have never held any real managerial position; there has been no true signs of mobility through all my years of employment, after graduation..on the other hand, the lady I'm speaking of - she has a terrific employment record and has an executive title in her corporate office, and I imagine is doing well financially as she likes to travel often and to pricey destinations. I'm not too good handling rejection from the ladies when it comes to dating.. basically I'm the type of guy who, after getting turned down, will head to the pub for more than one pint, and shake my head. Even guys who I guess look almost like Derek Jeter or Brad Pitt or whoever women these days fawn over, will get rejected. Let me know what you think. I think my chances are slim due to our polar opposite realities.

Re surface sheetrock?

Stripping old cork board off the wall is taking the top layer of the paper off the sheetrock. I will be putting more cork board on that area but think I should attempt to resurface/seal that sheetrock. Can I paint it with a couple coats of oil base primer and if so should I thin the primer for the first coat?

Why is my dog itching so much lately?

It doesn't really snow in December. It happens, but not often. The best advice is to wear layers (long sleeve shirts, thermal tops or sweaters) instead of relying solely on a big heavy coat. One of those North Face brand insulated jackets or coats work well in December. It does get windy, so if a cold breeze frightens you, make sure you bring a hat, scarf and gloves. Waterproof boots and thermal bottoms are probably overkill in December.

I took it up to geek squad and they i needed a new dc jack (charger port) and proably a new charger totalling up to almost 300 hundred dollars. i hadnt used my charger for 2 weeks and left i unplug and my computer completely off and today i decided to test it out again. Its normal and its charging. is this some technical fluke/miracle and im all set to use my charger or is it doing more damage?

Just the caliper paint, and clean calipers and drums (or new drums, if they're close to needing changing anyway) for the best results, a primer won't work. I'd recommend paint rather than a spray can as it's far easier to get it exactly where you want it, and only where you want it. Paint them whatever colours you like, I don't see why what you're planning would look strange!

And once again me and my brother and sister were telling ghost stories and he said there are three kids (which was us) who were telling ghost stories and then the book case fell down and the littlest (which is me) is gonna be stuck next thing i see is the book case falling down my leg had been tied in a knot with a wire. Oh yes here's another story again one night me and my mom at 3am went to the bathroom and went in the hallway and what appeared was a big flash for 10 seconds of pure white white lights which had no expiation because none of our neighbors were up and had bright lights like that. And one time me and my sister were jumping on the bed with no radio plugged in and not even on CD mode and what we happen was the radio plugged in with CD mode on it when we were listening to Radio mode 10 minutes ago. And one time my sister was asleep had a dream of a demon that look like our other sister (who brought the demon here!) choking her and she woke up with red marks on her neck. And last story one of my sisters saw a shadow figure eating cereal and thinking it was my brother went up to it and and disappeared. My sister was friends with satanist and I think they cast a ghost on us because she didn't join them anyway was i haunted?

I need advice... should I run away?

I'm a 16 year old girl. I've just gotten off from school for summer. Last year I didn't have one at all because I was bedridden after a particularly bad surgery. I'm only a sophomore, but I'll be doing a year abroad in Sweden for my junior year. My mom is making me take the SATs before I go. And, I'm fine with that. But, she's also making me take three different SAT tutoring sessions... all 2 hours and thirty minutes long...A DAY! She also has been shoving her alma mater (UVA) down my throat since I became a freshman. I want to go to UK, and possibly become an orthopedic surgeon. But, she told me she wouldn't pay for that. UVA or nothing. I just want a few days... and I've told her that repeatedly. I just finished exams, and I'm fried. I make excellent grades, and am continually on the honor role even though I am in all honor classes. I told her the same thing again today, and she said that I should just leave because she does everything for me, and I don't appreciate anything. I do though! I always say thank you! ALWAYS! I just want some time off, and for her to stop force feeding me her ivy league bullshit. I can't ever go out.... I just want some freedom. Sora and Maryjo are kinda...eh...I mean Maryjo is cute! But as she gets older it might not suit her. Sora is really nice but it has a bad ring to it. I love where you're going with the unique names..love those!! And my favorite is Estella. Trista is just amazingly beautiful as Thisbe isn't really feminine..Starling is amazingly amazing :) can I offer a suggestion? Always loved the middle name Lizabelle/Lizabella. Which dog breed is best for me and my lifestyle?

Corgi's are medium to high energy but not hyper. As long as you give them 2-3 walks per day as well as a little mental stimulation, their pretty calm. They only usually bark when their supposed to so that's usually not a problem. They do however shed like crazy. They blow their coat 2x a year then shed pretty heavily all year long. ANY double coated dog sheds a lot. Not sure about the springer or the shiba but if you don't want to deal with any shedding, don't get a corgi.

And also, after finding out his location have him go into a bit of shock, slowly grasp what just happened and if it fits the story have him panic (that's what I would do). Then later have him search around and look for others.

Is Plan B morning after pill effective on the exact day of ovulation/conception?

We had sex with a condom and it broke and came off, the next morning approximately 10 hours later, I took both plan B pills at the same time. I had absolutely no symptoms except for extreme fatigue...extreme as in I didnt even want to move an arm. The next day I looked at my calender and realized it was the exact day that I was ovulation and conception took place. I did a little bit of research online and alot of forums have people exclaiming that the pill will not work after the egg has reached the uterus.....I took it so soon after so does that make a difference if the egg had already reached my uterus? Just graduated from undergrad last spring. I'm currently unemployed and thus have been able to be under unemployment deferment for my educational loans. I recently accepted a part time position that I start soon - the pay will not exceed the amount I get weekly through unemployment so my understanding is that I'll still be able to claim unemployment weekly and they'll pay me the difference... i.e. if I get $405 weekly through unemployment but my part time job pays me $300, unemployment will pay be $105 or something. I have yet to report this part time job since I haven't started yet. BUT to get to the point, my issue is this: will I still be able to have my loans deferred under unemployment loan deferment even though I have a part time job? I have some loans (including federal) through mygreatlakes and I also have loans through my private alma mater on ecsi.net. I figured if I STILL qualify for unemployment loan deferment, then I should still be able to have this even though I have a part time job that pays me less than my weekly benefit rate. Has anyone been in this situation? I could use some help. I'll probably call my loan providers or something but I wanted to see what you all thought, too. Thanks in advance! :)

It is a very good start. It is nice to hear a happy one for a change.The only thing I would say is you do not need to describe every little detail, it just confuses the reader. I liked the fact that you did not know all about the two characters but you have given away just the right annount of information. However try not too say so much about the eyes of the character. If you see somebody in real life, the eyes are not the most notable part of them. All in all very good, especially for your age!

For an eleven year old it is utterly brilliant, however there are a few grammatical anomalies here and there. I'm on my iPod so I can't highlight them to point them out. I would also venture that it is too short to be a complete chapter and thus far moves a little too slowly. It's well written but lacking hooks to pull your audience in. Fur loss and discoloration in pug?

I have a 10 year old black pug and recently his fur has been turning a lighter hue and coming off in massive clumps. It's not his whole coat, just random patches throughout - mainly near his rear legs and collar. This happened in the past when I used a new dog shampoo on him, but I have not bathed him myself or changed his diet in over a year. Last time I took him to the vet for this they said not to worry if it did not seem to bother him... but I am just curious as to what is going on?!

Will my bala shark be okay?

Hi. I have a bala shark that I've had for about 9 months. Well on Sunday I changed the decor and the gravel in my 56 gallon tank and put all of my fish into a big container. I would rinse some of the gravel and when I put it into the tank I would check the fish to make sure they were okay. When I came back to check on them(maybe 5 minutes or so) my poor bala was on the floor..I freaked out and my husband came and put him back into the water. He sat for a second then swam a bit but mostly just sat at the bottom of the container I'm sure out of shock. Within a day I noticed his eyes becoming white and hazy and his breathing had slowed down. I put melafix into the tank and added some extra salt to calm him and get his protective coating back. We got the hospital tank set up and ready for him and he's been in there swimming around like normal but now he seems to be resting. The poor guy has lost half of his back fins and he can't see which means he can't eat. I feel so bad for him he's already been through so much. He had hemmorogic septicemia and the other fish tore his fins up so bad he couldn't swim..but we fixed him right up and he had never been better. So I'm pretty upset that he has to go though this. Sorry I'm rambling on and on I just don't know what else to do for him...the water perimeters in both tanks are great and my other fish are doing fantastic. But my bala was one of my first fish. Can anyone tell me if he will be able to see again and how long it will take for his tail fins to grow back? If he will ever be able to eat again. Oh and also if there may have been brain damage..he was out of the water for probably about 5 minutes. Thank you so much in advance for any suggestions and please no mean comments I already feel pretty horrible as it is.
