What would you do in my situation?

Recently, I have been faced with a crucial decision, where should I attend college? I am a senior in a prep school and I have been accepted in a variety of schools. When I a was young, through several tests, I was determined to have a genius IQ. I have received stellar grades throughout school and have received great test scores and all that jazz. My father wants me to attend his alma mater, Brown University,which I have been accepted to, so that I may pursue a degree in economics at the business school. Although Brown is a fantastic school, I do not wish to attend Brown, nor do I want to pursue any degree related to business. I have always been passionate about science and want to pursue a degree in engineering, specifically mechanical engineering. After touring the school, I fell in love with Umass Amherst. I felt that at Brown the students are all obsessed with money and the name of their school. At Umass, I observed that the students are more genuine and down to earth, compared the aggregation of trust fund babies who attend Brown. My father is furious that I want to decline my attendance to Brown and attend my safety school Umass, despite my desires. He claims that instead of becoming successful, I would become a partying zoo animal at Umass. I realize that Umass is a lower tier school compared to Brown but I desire to do what makes me happy. I realize that I can be successful if I work hard at what I enjoy doing. My father, on the other hand, does not give a damn about my aspirations and claims that I am making a foolish and childish mistake. He claims that attending UMass would be a complete waste of my intellectual gift. I would appreciate any comments or input on this matter, thanks you all very much for your help.
