Is there a company that is in the business of finding people jobs, but not a temp agency?

I am not talking about spot, temp or low-level positions like a staffing agency like Kelly Services that take a portion of your salary if you start to work. I am thinking of something more professional and personalized where you pay up front and you give them your credentials and tell them where and what you want and they get you interviews until you find something (like an agent). If so, where can I find these services? In the yellow pages, under what category? Or what are some names? I have a 4 year degree, but have no real good professional experience and am willing to work any where in the country or world for that matter. How much would such a service cost? more than $500? Would my alma mater be able to do more than just point me the right direction (I went to the biggest school in my state)?. I want more than a career center or adviser type help. any suggestions?
